Carrol Close - Highgate Road

This project was a collaborative effort between Rossella, Dartmouth Park Neighbourhood Forum, and Growing Green. Together, we revitalised the Highgate Parade beds along Highgate Road. To top off the day, volunteers were treated to delicious complimentary pizzas from Rossella!

Latest Update

March '25: The beds weren’t the easiest to work with, as the back row receives very little sunlight. But with so many beautiful shade-loving plants to choose from, we saw an opportunity to bring new life to the space along Highgate Road.

Together with local residents, we cleared and refreshed the beds, and planted a variety of plants that thrive in the shade. We added a vibrant mix of pink, purple, and white flowers, creating a softer, more welcoming space that will continue to grow and evolve over time.

2025

Bergenia

The Bergenia 'Bressingham White' flowers between March and April. Early flowers are valuable for pollinators, especially bees, emerging from winter.
Tiarella

We planted three types of Tiarella, including 'Wherryi' which flowers around April–May and the 'Pink Skyrocket' (pictured) which flowers a little later, between May and July.
Geranium Rozanne

One of the best choices for pollinators! It flowers continuously from late spring to autumn, providing a long and reliable nectar source for bees, butterflies, and hoverflies.
Nepeta 'Walker's Low'

A top-tier pollinator plant, especially for bees. It has a long flowering period (May–September), is drought-tolerant, and is highly attractive to honeybees and bumblebees.
