La Sainte Union School

Waterlogged lawns and frequent flooding around one of the buildings are challenges we’re addressing. To manage excess rainwater, we’re planting a native hedge that includes a selection of water-thirsty trees. Along a south-facing wall, we’ll also add fan-trained fruit trees, beautifully framed by a surrounding wildflower meadow.

Latest Update

November '24: To tackle ongoing flooding issues, we consulted an expert who designed an environmentally friendly plan to reduce waterlogging. After discussions with contractors, we aimed to start work in November '24. However, the project has since been postponed to allow for better integration with other site improvements. Stay tuned!

February ’25 Update:

Today, we planted a new section of mixed native hedge with a wonderful group of volunteers and students. It was an inspiring session, and we're excited to see how the hedge will thrive, contributing to the local biodiversity.

We also created a new wetland meadow, seeded with wildflowers. This will help relieve a waterlogged area that had become a challenge in an existing bed. There's still more planting to be done, and we look forward to returning to finish the project and enhance this vibrant space even further.
